2 kinds of loneliness.

Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the desires of yoiur flesh.

Unless a corn of seed fell to the ground and die it shall remain alone. Be willing to die to self and the flesh.

Beware that your enemy prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.

Christ in me the Hope of glory.

I am fully satisfied when God is fully glorified.

There is great beauty to behold of the bridegroom. I am being transformed as I behold Him.

Two kinds of loneliness: Bread for the Journey by Henri Nouwen

In the spiritual life we have to make a distinction between 2 kinds of loneliness. In the first loneliness, we are out of touch with God and we experience ourselves as anxiously looking for someonw or something that can give us a sense of belonging, intimacy and home.

The second loneliness comes from an intimacy with God that is deeper and greater than our feelings and thoughts can capture.
We might think of these 2 kinds of loneliness as 2 forms of blindness. The first blindness comes from the absence of light, the second from too much light. The first loneliness we must try to outgrow with faith and hope. The second we must be willing to embrace in love.
